Meet Nicole Harris, Elyson’s Director of Community Engagement

Elyson is excited to welcome Nicole Harris, our new Director of Community Engagement.

A Katy resident, Nicole combines an outgoing and caring personality with more than 20 years of leadership experience with nonprofit organizations in Katy, Houston and Atlanta.

Nicole’s outlook for her new job is simple.

“I want to plan events where Elyson residents will have a great time and feel connected to the community and each other,” she said. “It’s all about listening, talking with residents and meeting their needs. I want to make sure we’re hosting events and activities that residents want and that are meaningful to them.”

When you meet Nicole, you’ll probably agree with the way her two sons describe her.

“They love to make up comic book characters with superpowers. They say my superpower is touching hearts, along with cooking and baking,” she laughs.

The Harris family moved to Katy about seven years ago, wanting more space both inside and out for their growing sons. “We absolutely love Katy. I’m very excited about having a new job where I can make a positive impact close to home,” she says.

Nicole has a master’s degree in public administration, with a focus in nonprofit management, from Keller Graduate School of Management, along with certifications in nonprofit financial stewardship and other areas.

Before coming to Elyson, she most recently was executive director of Today’s Youth, a Houston nonprofit that works to empower, educate and prepare youth for adulthood.

She has also served as executive director of the West Houston Leadership Institute, as leadership development manager for United Way of Greater Houston in Katy, and as senior program manager for the Houston Center for Literacy.

Nicole also participates in Katy ISD’s Keys (Keeps Encouraging Youth toward Success) mentoring program.

With Elyson’s robust year-round calendar of lifestyle events for many age groups and interests, we’re sure residents will have plenty of opportunities to meet Nicole and say “hello.”
