With a capacity for 1,400 students, Stockdick Junior High is named for a pioneering family in the Katy area. The Stockdick family has had a leading role in Katy education since the 1895 arrival of Adam Henry Stockdick, a teacher and farmer who moved to Cane Island (later Katy) from Ohio. Three years later, in 1898, Elyson’s namesake, Ely Freeman, arrived in Katy with his family, so we heartily approve of this school name which further recognizes the rich history of the Katy Prairie. Stockdick Junior High opened in August, 2017.
Designed for 3,000 students, this new three-story high school opened in August, 2017, continuing Katy ISD’s tradition of excellence in preparing its high school students for college success and beyond. It is named for Patricia E. Paetow, a lifelong educator who spent 28 years in KISD, starting as an educational diagnostician and serving as principal of several KISD schools and as an administrator before retiring.
With an overall grade of A+, Katy ISD ranks No. 1 on Niche.com's list of "2018 Best School Districts in the Houston Area". Katy ISD received A+ grades in Academics, Teachers, and College Prep.
