2019 Colors of the Year point to design trends
From Pantone’s Living Coral to Sherwin Williams’ Cavern Clay, here are four 2019 Colors of the Year from several leading paint and color companies. As these companies explain, colors can signal our aspirations and ideals, and they’ve been proven to affect everything from mood to appetite.
We can expect to see these fresh colors used on everything from interior walls to furniture and accessories everywhere, including in some of our newest model homes in Elyson.
Blueprint. We love Blueprint, Behr’s Color of the Year (pictured above), because it speaks directly to the excitement and energy of starting a new chapter life in a brand-new (or at least freshly painted) home. Blueprint is “an honest, approachable color that conjures up the blueprints builders rely on to bring architectural designs to life,” according to Behr. “Blueprint creates a space where you can build your own reimagined life—where awareness of what we want to build for ourselves can transform into action.”
Living Coral. Pantone describes Living Coral as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” This color represents the fusion of modern life, Pantone says, as a nurturing color that appears in natural surroundings and also displays a lively presence on social media. It “emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature.”
Metropolitan. A sophisticated gray is always on trend, and Metropolitan, Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year, is described as calm, composed and effortlessly sophisticated. “Metropolitan emanates nuance, harmony and extravagant ease,” the company states. “Always adaptable, it softens to matte or shimmers with sheen. It's neutral. It's understated. It just is. This is color, off-duty."
Cavern Clay. We all love nature, and Sherwin-Williams describes Cavern Clay as an easy way to bring the warmth of the outdoors in. “A warm terracotta color with ancient, elemental roots, Cavern Clay is a nod to midcentury modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest, which together creates a desert modern aesthetic,” the company describes. “Envision beaches, canyons and deserts, and sun-washed late summer afternoons—all of this embodied in one color.”
