Major new shopping centers opening near Elyson

The first “McDonald’s of the Future” in Texas recently opened in the huge new Grand Morton Town Center development near Elyson, and that’s just one of many new options for dining, shopping and entertainment near the community.

Grand Morton Town Center

Located about six miles from Elyson’s main entry, Grand Morton Town Center is the most convenient new shopping center for residents.

At Grand Parkway and Morton Ranch Road, this 85-acre center is anchored by Kroger Marketplace and Walmart Supercenter, with additional stores including HomeGoods, Michael’s, and Petco will be coming soon.

There’s also a host of restaurants, including that new McDonald’s, which boasts innovative features like digital ordering kiosks, Bluetooth table locators for dine-in table service, video games, UberEATS delivery, patio seating and 24-hour drive-thru.

Other quick-service restaurants that have recently opened or are coming soon include Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A and Whataburger.

Full-service, sit-down restaurants and fast-casual concepts are planned for future phases of this 600,000-square-foot center, according to developer NewQuest Properties.

Fairfield Town Center

More new stores are also coming to Fairfield Town Center, located approximately 14 miles from Elyson, at Grand Parkway and U.S. 290.

Half of the tenants planned for this open-air lifestyle venue are already open, including H-E-B, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Ulta and many more stores and services.

One of the newest tenants, opened in July, is Katy’s own The Round Top Collection Gallery. It is a favorite destination for home and garden décor items and seasonal decorations.

Dining options include Zoe’s Kitchen, Chipotle, MOD Pizza and Pei Wei Asian Diner.

More new tenants are expected to open this year at Fairfield Town Center, which is adjacent to the Houston Premium Outlets mall.

Katy Asian Town

Katy Asian Town, one of the most unique new developments in the Houston area, is planned to open about 8 miles south of Elyson in early 2018. It will be anchored by H Mart, a popular Korean grocery chain offering a wide range of Asian specialty items.

H Mart will be surrounded by about 100,000 square feet of additional stores and restaurants, including Gong Cha Tea, Atami Steak and Sushi, and Soju 101 an Asian bar.

This 15.5-acre development is located near the University of Houston System’s new 46-acre Katy campus, where the first building is expected to open in fall 2019.

In the future, Elyson residents could enjoy first-class shopping, dining and entertainment even closer to home. The community’s 3,642-acre master plan devotes about 400 acres for commercial mixed-use development, primarily along the Grand Parkway.
