8 things we love about Highland’s new Cambridge model home in Elyson
From dramatically streaked marble countertops, to options for home offices and a multigenerational suite, there’s a lot to love in Highland’s Cambridge model home.
Now open in Elyson’s new Model Home Village, the Cambridge showcases Highland’s floor plan collection for 55-foot-wide homesites. Prices start in the $400Ks.
It wasn’t easy, but we narrowed our favorite features down to 8 true standouts. Read on and take a pictorial tour with us.
Indoor/outdoor living – There are many things to admire in the Cambridge’s family room, from the soaring two-story ceiling to the cozy corner fireplace. But our favorites are the sliding glass doors, which open to the covered and open-sky patio areas to create a seamless indoor/outdoor living area.
Outdoor Living x 3 – The Cambridge has one of the largest outdoor living areas we’ve ever seen, thanks to the enhanced extended covered patio, which easily accommodates oversized seating for 6 or more. This model also displays an open patio area with a large dining set and a firepit surrounded by cozy Adirondack chairs.
Home Office x 2 – With more people working from home either full-time or part of the time, the Cambridge is eager to accommodate. This flexible plan displays a full study upstairs, and it has an option for a pocket office near the kitchen. If you don’t want the pocket office, this area provides a large storage space.
Sweet suite – The primary bedroom suite in this gorgeous model home is truly special, with fun geometric wallpaper and a bay window that accommodates a seating area. The luxurious bathroom has a makeup desk between double vanities, all topped with a gorgeously streaked marble. For bath time, choose between the freestanding tub or the sleek glass-enclosed shower. A huge walk-in closet completes this private suite retreat.
Island dreams – The oversized table island in the Cambridge’s gourmet kitchen is topped with a stunning white marble slab with dramatic gold toned veins. The same marble tops the expansive countertop area along the wall. This natural neutral is a great complement for the crisp white upper cabinets and richly stained natural wood lower cabinets. The top row of lighted glass-front cabinets transforms this space into a show stopping display area. A cool blue tile backsplash rounds out this wonderful kitchen.
Creative Secondary Bedrooms – We love the creative and functional design ideas in some of the Cambridge’s secondary bedrooms. In one, twin bedrooms are surrounded by happy, puffy clouds painted on the wall. The niche accommodates a desk for homework, complete with windows for natural light. The downstairs guest bedroom has a cozy window seat built-in under the windows.
Media Room down for family togetherness – While most homes have the media room on the second floor, the Cambridge (like a number of Highland plans) puts this entertainment area on the main floor. This thoughtful layout places the media room near the kitchen (snacks!) and family room, allowing multiple activities in one central area.
Flex Gen Suite for multigenerational families – Highland has an appealing option for multigenerational families with its Flex Gen Suite option, available with the Cambridge and other plans in Elyson. With this option, the fourth bedroom is expanded into a private living suite for an in-law, adult child or other household member, complete with a bedroom, full bathroom and a large walk-in closet.
The Cambridge is one of two Highland model homes in Elyson’s new Model Home Village, showcasing 14 model homes in all. The village also includes the Elyson Welcome Center and a short trail leading to tours of our newest major amenity, Lakeside Landing.
