Summer at Elyson: Pools, Splash Pads, Lakeside Trails & More
Summer in Katy arrives before most people are ready for it. By late May, the heat index is already pushing into the 100s, the school calendar clears out, and every family in the area starts figuring out how they're going to fill the next three months.
At Elyson, that question has a lot of good answers. Two resort-style pools. Two splash pads. Two fitness centers. A 31-acre lake. Miles of trails. Over 750 acres of amenities and open space. The short version: there's enough here that you won't run out of things to do, and most of it is a short walk from your front door.

Two Pools, Two Speeds
Elyson House has the pool most families gravitate toward. It's bigger, it's louder, and on a Saturday afternoon in July, it's full. That's not a complaint. That's what a community pool is supposed to look like. The kids find each other within about ten minutes, and you can actually sit on the deck without being on top of anyone.

Lakeside Landing is a different experience. The beach-entry pool sits next to the 31-acre lake, so even when you're swimming laps, you're looking out at open water. It runs at a slower pace and draws a different crowd, especially on weekday mornings. Worth the extra few minutes if you haven't been.

The Splash Pads
Zero depth, fountains shooting from the ground, no way to fall in over your head. For kids who aren't ready for the main pool, this is the whole summer. Parents of toddlers know the routine: get here by 9, run them through the water until they're waterlogged and tired, feed them lunch, and they'll sleep for two hours. It's not glamorous, but it works every time.
The covered shade pavilions nearby matter more than they sound. Standing in direct Texas sun while your three-year-old plays isn't sustainable for more than twenty minutes. The shade keeps the splash pads at each amenity center usable on the days when the heat index hits triple digits.

Lakeside Landing and the 31-Acre Lake
The lake is the part of Elyson that surprises people when they visit for the first time. It's big enough that you can't see across it clearly on a hazy morning, and the shoreline path gives you enough distance to actually walk somewhere rather than just loop a parking lot. Two buildings sit right on the shore of a 31-acre lake, and between them you can swim, socialize, work out, or work out of the house at your own leisure.

Miles of Trails
The trail system is what makes the community feel connected, and once complete, there will be almost 30 miles of trails. They run through neighborhoods, past parks, past schools, and between the two amenity centers.
In summer, the window is narrow. Before 9 a.m. and after 7 p.m., the trails are busy. Between 10 and 6, you're dealing with heat and humidity that will wear you down faster than the distance does. The National Weather Service heat safety page is worth bookmarking if you're new to Houston summers. Bring more water than you think you need.
Elyson Commons: 145 Acres
Most neighborhoods don't have open land like this. Elyson Commons runs alongside Bear Creek Park and gives you 145 acres of grass, sky, and room to actually move. Pickup soccer, kite flying, kids on bikes with nowhere specific to go. The kind of outdoor space that's hard to find in a developed suburb.
If you haven't been out there yet, our Elyson Commons blog post has a better overview of what's there and how to find it.
Parks, Courts, and the Dog Park
The neighborhood parks are scattered throughout the community, which means a quick after-dinner walk to the playground doesn't require loading the car. Most homes are within walking distance of at least one.
The sport courts run pickleball and tennis, and they tend to fill up in the early morning and evening hours when the temperature is tolerable. If you play, you already know the schedule.
The dog park has its own social ecosystem. Weekend mornings have a regular crowd, both dogs and people. If you've moved here recently and haven't been, it's a faster way to meet neighbors than you'd expect.

The Fitness Centers
Let's be honest about August. Some days the smartest workout happens indoors. Elyson has two fitness centers, one at Elyson House and one at Lakeside Landing. Each keeps your routine on track with cardio machines plus a full strength training area. It's sized to handle the morning rush without a wait for equipment, all under air conditioning that earns its keep.
Trail miles in June, treadmill miles in August. The streak survives either way.
And because it's steps from the pool, the workout-then-cannonball combo is very much on the table. We won't judge. We'll join you.

The Summer Calendar
The amenities are the setting. The events are what fill them out. Elyson's Lifestyle Director puts together a calendar that runs all summer, pool events, movie nights on the Elyson House lawn, community get-togethers that don't require any planning on your end. You show up, the rest is handled.

Come out and take a look. The Welcome Center is open, the water is on, and the trails are waiting for you.

Is there a fitness center at Elyson?
Yes. There are actually two. One at the Elyson House, and one at Lakeside Landing. Each has cardio and strength equipment for residents. It's steps from the pool, which makes it easy to combine both into one morning. In a climate where summer afternoons push past 95 degrees regularly, having an indoor option that's already part of your commute helps.
What is Lakeside Landing at Elyson?
Lakeside Landing is Elyson's second amenity center, built on the edge of the community's 31-acre lake. It has a beach-entry pool, an event lawn, and gathering spaces with water views. It opened in early 2024 and hosts community events throughout the year. More details in our Lakeside Landing blog post.
Can I visit Elyson to see the amenities before buying a home?
Yes. Start at the Elyson Welcome Center. You can pick up a community map, ask questions, and see the amenities in person. Summer is a good time to visit because the pools, trails, and event calendar are all running. Stop by and stay awhile.
Are Elyson amenities included in the HOA?
Yes. Access to the pools, splash pads, fitness centers, trails, parks, and community events is included with residency. That's one of the practical advantages of a master-planned community: the amenity package is already part of the address.
