Fun, Wellness, and Community—The Elyson Way
At Elyson, we believe helping our residents stay active and connected is so important, we have a dedicated team member who plans fun-filled events and activities for our 3,000 (and counting) families.
Meet our Director of Community Engagement, Nicole Harris, who has deep Katy roots and more than 20 years of leadership experience with nonprofit organizations in Katy, Houston and Atlanta.
Four years after joining Elyson, Nicole still sees her role in very simple terms.
“My goal is to plan events where Elyson residents will have a great time and feel connected to the community and each other,” she said. “It’s all about listening, talking with residents and meeting their needs. I want to make sure we’re hosting events and activities that are meaningful to everyone.”
Nicole is always adding new events and activities, based on her own experiences and on feedback from residents. We recently talked with her to learn more about some of Elyson’s active community life.
Staying fit

Weekly fitness classes are a big hit with residents of all ages, including Water Boot Camp classes at Elyson House and Total Body Circuit classes at Elyson Commons. The classes are led by certified fitness instructor Katie Comer, founder of Strongbird Fitness Katy.

Elyson has many more ways for residents to stay fit, whether it’s working out solo or with neighbors. These include the indoor fitness centers at Elyson House and Lakeside Landing, and the outdoor exercise trail at Elyson Commons.

The swimming pools at Elyson House and Lakeside Landing are open all year long, offering residents more pool time during Houston’s often mild off-summer seasons.

Elyson has courts for tennis, table tennis, pickleball and bocce ball. For those wanting a full-service gym, EOS Fitness is one of many businesses now open in the community.
Special events

Elyson residents enjoyed 27 major events in 2025, and the fun is still rolling on.

Summer is a big season for celebration, with major events including Food Trucks & Fireworks for July 4th, and our annual Back To Cool end-of-summer bash.

From Tent or Treat during Halloween, to Jolly Jingle Jamboree for the holidays, residents are never far from a chance to gather and enjoy.

Elyson’s youngest residents love monthly Story Time socials, an hour of stories, songs, crafts and treats.
Giving back
Giving back to the larger Katy community has become a strong Elyson tradition, whether it’s a planned event or a timely pop-up response, like our 2025 food drive for victims of the Hill Country flooding.
Elyson typically holds a back-to-school clothing drive in conjunction with our Back-To-Cool event, partnering with local nonprofit organizations.
Our newest program is Elyson on the Move, which connects the community with local nonprofits benefiting Katy ISD and Cy-Fair ISD. Both of these school districts serve Elyson, although about 90% of our total homes will be zoned to Katy ISD.
Keeping in touch
Elyson offers several ways for residents to stay informed about their community and keep in touch with each other.
Elyson residents enjoy both a resident website, HelloElyson.com, and a corresponding mobile app that provides neighborhood information, community updates, news about upcoming events, event registration opportunities, important contacts and HOA documents.
Nicole also creates a monthly newsletter that is mailed to all residents around the first of each month, and is also available online. Each issue offers a smorgasbord of news, such as upcoming events & activities, pictures from recent events, neighborhood information, community updates, important contacts, upcoming events and special from Elyson, and highlights of what’s happening around town.
A weekly email with the latest updates and reminders helps make sure residents don’t miss a chance to have fun.
