Guest suites are perfect when company comes
Whether it’s close family that visits all the time, or a long-lost friend coming into town for a weekend, having company over can be one of the sweetest parts of life.
It’s even sweeter when everyone has their own space and privacy, not to mention their own bathroom. Fortunately, many of today’s new homes offer options for guest suites that are thoughtfully designed for the benefit of the visitor as well as the host. Here are a few of the best floor plan options for when company comes.
One of the most popular designs is the downstairs guest bedroom with a full en suite bathroom, a layout showcased in Perry’s Design 3791 model home. Since the primary suite is also located downstairs in most of today’s new-home designs, the downstairs guest suite offers both connectedness and privacy during the visit.
Many floor plans, such as Meritage’s Redbud, offer the flexibility of adding an extra bedroom upstairs or downstairs. Sometimes the space adds more square footage to the home, such as building a garage bay as an extra bedroom, or choosing more upstairs space instead of having a two-story ceiling in the family room. Some plans offer an extra bedroom option in lieu of an unneeded formal space, such as a living room or dining room.
Many one-and-a-half-story floor plans offer an extra bedroom and a full bathroom upstairs, often along with a gameroom. This layout provides visiting guests with even more privacy away from the main floor. Pulte’s Mooreville is a flexible one-and-a-half-story plan offered at Elyson.
