Where to Eat and Drink in Katy

Katy Asian Town. Get a taste of Asia close to home at Katy Asian Town. This multicultural food destination is anchored by H-Mart, a Texas-sized Asian supermarket stocked with fresh produce, meat and seafood, and snacks you'd usually have to travel overseas to find. H-Mart's food court is worth a stop on its own (the French-Asian bakery Tous Les Jours is a local favorite). Beyond the market, dozens of tenants serve up everything from sweet to spicy, and there's even a Japanese bookstore. Just next door, Portillo's has opened for Chicago-style dogs and Italian beef, giving the area one more reason to visit.

LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. For a walkable afternoon of shopping and dining, LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is hard to beat. The open-air center mixes boutiques and national names with some of Katy's best-loved restaurants, including Ambriza for creative Tex-Mex, Postino for wine and bruschetta boards, and Dish Society for farm-to-table brunch. The newest arrival is North Italia, an upscale-casual Italian spot known for scratch-made pasta and wood-fired pizza. Grab a bite, browse the shops, and stay for live music on the green.

Katy Grand. Katy Grand has quickly become one of the area's most exciting places to eat and gather. Chocho Hot Pot puts the cooking in your hands, letting you simmer thin-sliced meats, seafood, noodles, and veggies in rich broths right at your table. BoomerJack's is a go-to sports bar and grill, always tuned in to the game with a full menu and drinks to match. Craving steak? Fogo de Chão and Gauchos Do Sul have both opened nearby on West Grand Parkway South, serving up tableside-carved Brazilian churrasco and generous salad bars.

Hop to Katy's beer scene. Katy's own No Label Brewing Co. helped pioneer a thriving local beer culture, and it's still going strong with brewery tours, a playground, and a regular rotation of food trucks and live music. Newer arrivals have joined the scene too, like Katy Beer Garden, which describes itself as where "the vibrant Texas spirit meets Bavarian charm." Set in the shadow of a historic rice silo in Old Katy, it's dog-friendly and welcoming to all ages, with beers, cocktails, and food trucks.

A night out close to home. Elyson's dining scene keeps growing, and the community makes an easy launch point for a night out. Alchemy Bake Lab specializes in mini desserts that sparkle like jewels, along with savory bites, and you can sign up for a baking class or reserve the space for a private event (a fun twist on the usual dinner-and-a-movie). More restaurants and shops are arriving at Elyson Town Center at the Grand Parkway and FM 529, bringing everyday dining and gathering spots even closer to home.

Activities & Entertainment in Katy 

Andretti Indoor Karting & Games. One of Katy's most thrilling stops, Andretti Katy packs games, rides, and dining under one roof. Electric karts deliver instant acceleration around hairpin turns and long straightaways on climate-controlled tracks. When you're ready for a break from the wheel, there's arcade gaming, virtual reality, laser tag, and mini golf, plus full-service dining and a bar at the Food Truck Plaza.

Golf galore. If golf is your game, Katy swings big, with a growing number of public courses and golf-related entertainment venues. One of the standouts, X-Golf Katy, is owned by Elyson residents Chris Pena and Joe Chaisson, and its bays feature some of the industry's most advanced simulator technology alongside a full food and drink menu. Top Golf Katy offers all-weather bays, a rooftop terrace with firepits, and a restaurant and bar. For mini golf, PopStroke Katy near Asian Town has two 18-hole courses and a full-service restaurant, while Monster Mini Golf adds gaming, bowling, a laser maze, and virtual reality. Prefer the real thing? Excellent public courses sit close by, including The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch (our sister community) and Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club.

Home Run Dugout. A bright idea straight out of left field, Home Run Dugout offers indoor batting bays that are perfect for a group outing or a little friendly competition. There's an outdoor patio and a full menu, and after dark the place comes alive with DJs, live music, glowing lights, and late-night batting specials. The ground-up pitching machines are easy to hit, so everyone from first-timers to seasoned sluggers can step up to the plate. 

Indoor thrills for all ages. When the Texas heat has everyone looking for fun activities in Katy that stay indoors, the area delivers. Slick City Action Park features giant indoor slides with a range of twists and drops, from the winding Python to the rollicking Big Wave. Altitude Trampoline Park and Urban Air Adventure Park bring gravity-defying trampolines along with rock climbing and digital attractions. And Main Event rounds things out with bowling, billiards, gravity ropes, and games, plus food and drinks to keep the energy up.

Typhoon Texas. When summer really cranks up, cool off at Typhoon Texas, which bills itself as the Houston area's premier waterpark and sits right next to Katy Mills Mall. You'll find attractions like the Lazy T River, Buckaroo Bayou, Tidal Wave Bay, and the Gully Washer, along with food and drinks to keep the day going. It's a July favorite for good reason.

Shopping and Parks in Katy

Katy Mills Mall. One of Houston's biggest malls, Katy Mills is home to a huge lineup of stores, from Bass Pro Shops to national names like H&M and Johnston & Murphy, with newer additions such as Primark and Swarovski joining the mix. Entertainment includes the on-site AMC theater, and dining ranges from The Cheesecake Factory to the Rainforest Café. Its sister property, Houston Premium Outlets, is also an easy trip from Elyson at the Grand Parkway and U.S. Highway 290.

Unique parks. From Elyson Commons at Bear Creek to Lakeside Landing, Elyson has plenty of green space for residents to enjoy. But when you feel like adventuring a little farther, Katy has some standouts. Mary Jo Peckham Park, fondly called the "park for all children," packs basketball courts, an aquatic and fitness center, a putting green and mini golf course, a playground, disc golf, and a walking trail into one green space (TripAdvisor ranks it No. 1 among things to do in Katy). John Paul Landing Park centers on a large lake circled by a scenic trail, making fishing the main draw. And Exploration Park in Cinco Ranch offers an immersive, water-themed public playground.
