Looking back, and ahead, as Elyson turns one year old

Elyson turns one year old in this fall, and for such a young community, we’ve achieved quite a lot. Just as exciting, our second year is off to an active start, with new amenities and homebuilders on the way.

Since Elyson opened last fall, more than 170 families have chosen to call our community home. We’ve profiled many of Elyson’s Founding Families in our blog, including the Donovans, the Turners, the Rodriguezes and the Davids, just to name the few most recent profiles.

Elyson House was an instant hit with residents, with its gameroom, fitness center, meeting room, event lawn and playground. In spring, the Elyson Takes Flight events series celebrated the community’s natural environment, with activities including kite flying demos, a butterfly release, dog shows and fun games.

Residents were delighted to discover that the big Elyson House pool didn’t close after Labor Day, as is the custom in most communities. Instead, the pool is open year-round for swimming, although it is not heated and lifeguards are not staffed outside of the summer season.

Elyson residents will soon be able to enjoy tennis at Elyson House, with two new tennis courts opening in 2018.

Back-to-school was an exciting time for Elyson residents, with the Katy Independent School District opening its brand-new Stockdick Junior High and Paetow High School in August. Connected by a learning green the size of eight football fields, these schools are located near Bethke Elementary, which opened in August 2016. Elyson students are zoned to attend all three of these state-of-the-art schools, located about two miles from the community.

Elyson is on track to get its own onsite elementary school, with Katy ISD having recently purchased a 13-acre school site in the community for future construction.

Elyson also welcomed two new builders to its team: CalAtlantic and Meritage Homes. Each of these builders will build in two new Elyson neighborhoods starting in October. One neighborhood will offer homes priced from the low $200,000s, and the other will have prices from the mid $300,000s.

CalAtlantic and Meritage will also open four new fully furnished model homes in Elyson’s Model Home Village in November. We’ll have more details in a future blog.
